Yeah, So I've Started A New Job

I am back in gainful employment as I have just completed my first week for the NHS at New Cross Hospital Wolverhampton.  I'll be working there for the next 6 months as ICT Applications Developer (nice vague title!).  This is the my first time of working in the public sector, for all of my working life so far I have worked in the private sector where things are all results focused and things need to generate money.

Its only been my first week and really hard to give a fair and accurate picture but so far I don't know what I have been employed to do (after some digging around I will be doing SharePoint development even though I have no experience, this turns out to be good as the other in the Development don't either).  It has taken two days to get a pass to the desk where I work and as yet have nothing explained about how the trust works (the letter I received yesterday told me that inductions happen once a month due to the size of the organisation and mine will be in December).  The guys that I work with all seem pretty good bunch, theres a fair bit of banter so once I have settled in, hopefully they will get to appreciate the Jamie sense of humour ;)

I look forward to next week, where I should get back to doing some actual development (I have a 4 hour meeting on Monday where I will find out what I'm doing) and finally some .Net work!
